0 0 0 For the women in fisheries cluster, their advocacies were geared towards the recognition of the role of women as fishers. They pursued this by questioning the lack of gender perspective in the Comprehensive National Fisheries Integrated Development Plan (CNFIDP). The proposed text for integrating women fishers’ and gender concerns in the CNFIDP were acknowledged by BFAR and shall form part of the text of the document. The proposed text by Fisheries Cluster cover the major sections of the document, from analysis, framework, plans, and operational structure. The fisheries cluster also heldo a dialogue with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) last September 2006, where they lobbied for women's representation in the National Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (NFARMC). The cluster considered three gains from their advocacy work, namely, the chance to sit as observer in the NFARMC, the opportunity to propose gender mainstreaming programs in the CNFIDP, and the possibility of getting support for women fishers' projects in pilot areas. The PKKK Fisheries' Cluster hope that these initial activities will help raise the much-needed recognition of women as stakeholders of the fisheries sector.
