0 0 0 The PKKK seeks to advance the rural women’s movement as an integral part of the struggle for the right to food, property rights, empowerment and equality, as components of development and democratization projects in the rural communities.  Through a strengthened PKKK membership, the Coalition aims to provide analysis, advocate for and raise awareness on rural women’s property rights, access and control over land and water resources, access to coastal resources, access to basic services and other economic resources, protection from violence, and right to exercise decision-making, in its partner provinces. These efforts shall manifest in the PKKK’s capacity to engage different groups, organizations and government agencies toward securing and protecting rural women’s rights.

Expected changes cover improvements among the rural women members in terms of

  • increased number of women with land titles and entitlements to other resources;
  • increased number of women with sustainable access to safe and potable water;
  • increased number of women actively advocating and implementing sustainable agriculture and fishing;
  • increased number of women actively advocating and implementing sustainable agriculture and fishing;
  • wider network of rural women monitoring GMO and BT corn production;
  • increased number of barangays and municipalities that have been influenced to implement a gender responsive plan and budget;
  • increased number of rural women who are aware and active in local activities and governance, i.e. local development councils (LDCs) and other local structures;
  • increased number of indigenous women participating in ancestral domain claim and development;
  • increased number of women fishwardens;
  • increased number of rural women who are aware of reproductive health and rights, and the laws on anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) and on Anti-Trafficking in Women
  • increased number of rural women with capacity to lead organizations at different levels;
  • increased recognition for rural women leaders and for rural women organizations at the national and local levels; i.e. can act as resource persons in policy making processes at the agency and local government councils, can call for meetings or dialogues with Heads or Secretaries of line agencies, rural women agenda is integral with the national actions and campaigns of the over-all peasant, fisher folk and indigenous peoples’ movements.
