Defending the Rights of Women and Developing Peaceful Rural Communities
Generally the project aims to strengthen the capacity of PKKKK Rural Women Leaders, their partner organizations and selected communities, to effectively respond to cases of VAWC.
Specifically, it aims to:
- Increase the capacity and capability of rural women leaders of PKKK in the understanding of anti-VAWC laws, within the context of human rights;
- Build community level advocacy groups to prevent incidence of violence against women and to develop mechanisms for assisting VAW victims;
- Increase the capability and involvement of men in the community in the prevention of VAWC;
- Build and strengthen networking between government agencies, local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations (NGOs), peoples organizations (POs), religious groups;
- Organize couples in households that would advocate prevention of VAWC and work for harmonious family relations; and
- Contribute to the CEDAW alternative report on the rural women situation, particularly on cases of VAWC.
This initiative is being supported by the German World Day of Prayer.
